Massage for tension headaches: when the Mieli Massage is a good fit

A tension headache often does not start in the head but in a tight neck, shoulders and shoulder blades - after hours at a screen, driving or a stressful week. The Mieli Massage works with exactly that tension. Its description lists headaches among the things it suits, together with tension in the neck, back and lower back, tiredness after work and stress.

What the massage does - and what it does not

The massage works with the muscles and the tension in the neck, shoulders and back. When your head hurts because of them, releasing them brings relief and a feeling of lightness.

The massage does not treat headaches and does not replace a doctor or treatment. We do not promise the headache will not come back - we only say what we work with.

How the session goes

We start with a short conversation - what is weighing on you today, where you feel the tension, whether there is an area to avoid. If your head hurts from your neck and shoulders, that is the focus. The pressure changes at your word at any moment.

60 or 90 minutes

60 minutes are enough for the back, neck and shoulders - which is to say, for what sitting at a screen does to a body.

If the tension keeps coming back for weeks, 90 minutes give time for deeper work with the whole body. After a longer massage, drink water and do not plan anything strenuous right afterwards.

If your stiff neck comes from the desk, see also Stiff neck and shoulders from a desk.

When to see a doctor first

A sudden, very severe headache. A headache after a blow or a fall. A headache with fever, dizziness, changes in vision, numbness or weakness. A headache that is new to you or different from your usual one. These are not cases for a massage - see a doctor straight away.
